Terry Lee Stone is a writer, manager, producer, and creative strategist who has worked on a broad range of professional creative endeavors. She has worked with top U.S. design firms including AdamsMorioka, The Designory, Margo Chase Design, and BMW Group DesignworksUSA. She has built and lead client relationships that have resulted in branding initiatives, corporate identities, print collateral, publications, marketing initiatives, live events, film/videos, social media engagement, and websites.
For over 12 years, she has taught the business of design. She taught at California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts), Otis College of Art and Design, and currently teaches Design Business 101 at Art Center College of Design. In addition, Stone has given lectures at Westmont College, Cal State San Bernardino, and UCLA Extension.
The author of several books on design, her latest is the two-book series called Managing the Design Process. Her other design books include, Logo Design Workbook, Color Design Workbook and Package Design Workbook (serving as editor/ghostwriter). She's contributed to AIGA online publications Voice and Gain. Stone writes for design magazines such as HOW, Communication Arts, and STEP Inside Design, as well as Felt & Wire blog. She blogs design business issues for Rockport Publishers as "Ask Design B*tch" at Rock Paper Ink.
Active in graphic design industry organizations, Stone has served on the Board of Directors of the AIGA in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Miami. For AIGA, she lead the Hurricane Katrina Relief Task Force and was the President of the Chapter President's Council. She has presented lectures and workshops for numerous organizations' conferences, such as AIGA and the Art Directors Club of New York. In Summer 2012, she spoke at the HOW Design conference and will again in June 2013.
She is also the co-author of the cookbook, Booze Cakes published by Quirk Books. In addition, Stone blogs about her personal obsession: knitting at sknitter.com. She lives with her husband and their pugs in the Studio City section of Los Angeles, in The Brady Bunch's old neighborhood.
